Cengiz's first press conference: I feel ready to perform in Serie A

Forward Cengiz Under insists he is completely ready to take the chance presented to him after signing for Roma.

Speaking at press conference on Friday to officially present him as a Giallorossi player, the 20-year-old expressed his excitement at getting the opportunity to play in Serie A - but also his confidence that he will soon hit the ground running.

Read everything the Turkey international had to say...

What attracted you to Italian football and what are you most concerned about?

"I've joined from a similar league to Serie A. The standard is good both defensively and from an attacking perspective back home. When the chance to join Roma came up I accepted immediately. I'm pleased to be here and I won't have any issues adapting to this brand of football."

What are your first impressions of the side and your team-mates?

"I arrived at Fiumicino on my birthday and everyone gave me a really warm welcome right from when I landed and that was great. I don't speak Italian yet and that could cause a few problems but I've already started taking Italian classes and I aim to learn it as quickly as possible."

Do you feel ready to go straight into the starting line-up?

"I feel very ready. I think I showed that at Basaksehir too. I scored seven goals in the Turkish top flight last season and I think I showed what I'm capable of with my performances there. We'll see how I get on now. We trained well in the United States and I also scored in one of the three tour matches we played. As I've said, now it's time to perform out there."

What do you say in response to claims you're the 'Turkish Dybala'?

"They called me that in Turkey because there's a resemblance but I'm Cengiz and I will make sure it's my name people remember."

You met Francesco Totti at Trigoria. How does it feel to join the club just as the greatest player in its history has retired?

"I met him the day after I arrived in Italy. I've seen lots of video clips of him online and I used to like seeing him do well. It's a shame he's just left football. I would have liked to have played with him, as I could have learned a lot."

What's your relationship like with Eusebio Di Francesco and how do you communicate?

"We use hand gestures for the moment. I'm taking Italian lessons though and soon I'll be able to speak and understand Italian better."

How do training sessions differ from what you were used in Turkey?

"We often do double workouts here, whereas that wasn't the case in Turkey. We work in the gym too which makes things very physically demanding. There's a lot more discipline in that respect than there is in Turkey."

Have you spoken to Emre Belozoglu or Fatih Terim about Italian football?

"I spoke to Emre who I know very well. I'm lucky to have met him. He told me Italian football is very tough but he was a midfielder whereas I play wide right. We'll see if there are any differences on the pitch."

Salih Ucan also played for Roma. Have you spoken to him?

"Of course I spoke to him, we have the same agent. He suffered a number of injuries here and it was shame that he left. He told me that I'll adapt very quickly here in Rome. My aim is to stay here and be successful with Roma. I don't see Roma as a stepping stone to a move elsewhere. My aim is to impress the management and supporters."

Do you feel you have the character to deal with the demanding fanbase here in Rome?

"I got clued up on Italy and the culture and environment here before I came. I haven't had any issues so far. I'm very happy here."
