PASTORE: We'll work harder on taking our chances

Javier Pastore acknowledged that Roma's late defeat against Borussia Monchengladbach was a tough one to take, as the Giallorossi fell to a 2-1 loss on Thursday.

Marcus Thuram's injury-time goal decided the game for the German side at Borussia-Park, after defender Federico Fazio had previously scored at either end in the Europa League group stage meeting.

Roma grew into the game and had chances to win the match in the second half - but were ultimately struck down by a last-gasp strike from the hosts.

"It's really disappointing, we played well - especially in the second half," Pastore said.

"We created a lot of openings but we didn't manage to score a second goal.

"A draw would have been fine - they are a very good side, an in-form side, as we are seeing in the league. It hurts but we need to push on."

Did you lack some clarity in attack?

"We failed to take advantage of a couple of key moments; counter-attacks when we were three on two. We have had a lot of games in a row, tiredness is catching up with us a little bit - but no excuses, we have to keep working hard and getting better in training to score more goals."

Now the group is more complicated - everything is on the line in Istanbul [in the next game].

"Yes, a lot will ride on the next game. We know that and we will go there to put in a great performance - as we have done a number of occasions recently, with spirit and desire.

"Today we were up against a great side. It's a shame about the last-minute goal."
