Juan Jesus: sour result but positives to take

Juan Jesus admitted that it was a bit of a body blow to concede so late on Sunday, as Roma drew 1-1 with Napoli at the Stadio San Paolo.

The Giallorossi were denied a victory only after a 90th minute equaliser from Dries Mertens, after Stephan El Shaarawy had opened the scoring inside the first 15 minutes.

But Jesus admitted afterwards that the visitors had not done quite enough in the second half to see out a victory.

"It's a shame [to concede so late], but in the second half we needed to do a bit more," the Brazilian said.

"We can't suffer like we did in the second half, without clearing our lines for at least a spell. But we showed our strength in getting a draw at the San Paolo, which is a very tough place to go. We need to build on that."

He added: "When you are defending for long spells you need to also have the ability to find space and open teammates.

"Today in the first half we got out of trouble well - Insigne was complaining that he was running a lot but wasn't able to stop us moving the ball forward. In the second half we were missing that ability to find our way out of trouble."

Despite the frustrating finish, Roma became the first side to come away from Naples with a positive result this season.

"We knew about their quality. Kolarov and Olsen were great tonight," he added. "We did what we had prepared for."

"It's a bit of a sour result in the end, but we have to look at the positives. I think we always have to have confidence and try to do our best, not just against the other big sides. I did not play in the last five games and I was ready - you need to always be 100% ready, that's our job."
