Fazio: with hard work we will turn things around

Defender Federico Fazio acknowledged that Roma have work to do in the wake of their 2-1 defeat to AC Milan on Friday - but believes the players have what it takes to turn things around.

The Giallorossi lost at the Giuseppe Meazza courtesy of a Patrick Cutrone goal right at the death and Fazio - who had scored the equaliser for the visitors on the hour-mark - admitted afterwards that the defeat hurt.

But the Argentine is adamant the Giallorossi are not far away from finding their best form.

"We were a bit unlucky with the goal in the last minute - before that we had a chance ourselves, and if we had scored the whole discussion would be different," Fazio said.

"In the end, though, we know that we need to work hard and improve. I know the ability that this team has, and with hard work I am sure we will get back on course."

Fazio cautioned against making any knee-jerk assessments after just three games in the season.

"We have to analyse things with clear heads," he said. "We now have two weeks until the next game, and then the Champions League starts and there will be lots of games.

"As I said, I know the ability that every player in this squad has and that if we work hard we will get a lot better.

"Physically it's hard to know [whether we can improve], the season is long and so far we have only played three games - so it's hard to say how we are doing from a fitness perspective. But perhaps we lack a bit of cohesion, we need to be more united out on the pitch."

He added: "Now we need to look forward and roll up our sleeves and get to work. We need to rediscover the right way to play - but I know we will."
