Matchwinner Cengiz Under was quick to shift the praise onto his teammates after ensuring Roma beat Cagliari 1-0 on Sunday night.

The Turkey international scored after just 15 minutes to break open the game at the Sardegna Arena - a pinpoint finish that ultimately proved decisive.

The Giallorossi are now just a point away from securing Champions League football next season.

"I scored an important goal, I'm very pleased with that and thank my teammates," Cengiz said.

"We battled together right up until the final whistle. We prepared really well for this game and we take home the three points. For us the season is not over just yet - we want to finish strongly."

He added: "I had it in mind to shoot once I saw the space open up, and I got off a nice strike that went in. I'm pleased it helped us bring home the three points."
