Radja Nainggolan admitted to a certain amount of mixed feelings after helping Roma beat his former side Cagliari on Sunday night.
The Sardinians are in real danger of being relegated from Serie A, especially after Cengiz Under's early strike condemned them to a 1-0 defeat.
For the Giallorossi, however, the result means they are now just a point away from confirming their place in next season's Champions League.
"We knew this would be tough - it always has been for Roma at Cagliari," Nainggolan said.
"We can be glad with the three points but I'm also sad for our opponents. We're doing well and are close to securing Champions League qualification."
He added: "Up next we have Juventus, which will be a difficult game. They've created a gap between themselves and Napoli.
"It'll be a battle for honour, but it's in our hands - if we get the results we'll be there."
